After translating original engineering CAD files into 3D models, CraneDigital surfaces, textures, lights and renders (takes a virtual snapshot of the rocket) the rockets to whatever resolution required.

This process has replaced product photography for a variety of reasons:

1. Complete control over lighting and composition; unlimited resolution (for packaging applications or tradeshow posters); perfect accuracy of color and form; no scanning required to digitize the photograph so the image is first-generation, razor sharp and crystal clear; digital delivery via FTP removes the cost and necessity of shipping.

2. The model doesn't need to be fully completed before the photographer has a model to shoot.

3. If there are changes, the photographer doesn't need to come back and re-shoot, re-process film, re-scan, etc. After making modifications to the model it is simply re-rendered and delivered via FTP.

4. The rendering requires less post-rendering work. Masks are generated during the rendering process allowing the background to quickly and simply be replaced. Previewing low-resolution versions using the web allows the client to see exactly what they will get before moving to high-res images.
